How to meet the spirit of a plant

For those who believe, any plant has its own spirit.
In Conjure/Hoodoo many roots are classified with traditional attributes linked to cleansing, drawing, opening roads, hexing, crossing, and the like.

I'd like to know if there is a traditional way in order to meet and understand the spirit of a plant which is not already classified - that is you don't know how to link it to your spiritual work. Where I live there are many plants or roots which are not "classified" from a spiritual perspective. But of course, they must have their own spirits.

Please, let me know.
