Clarification on the term "Mental Wandering"

Hey guys,
What does Bardon mean by this term? I can't quite understand what he means by this. Is it day dreaming? Also, the Mental Zone in general.
If the Astral is a metaphor for what happens after physical death, then the astral would be a metaphor to what happens after that death, which would leave you left in the Mental zone. But when I think of the astral, I think in terms of mental images (the universal language). Or is the mental zone/mental wandering void of pictures/mental images?
