African Proverbs

Would anyone like to discuss African Proverbs, which help to unravel the mysteries of odu?

"The wooden spoon doesn't melt from the heat of the soup, and the pot is never consumed by the burning flame"

Here we have four objects:

wooden spoon
soup
pot for cooking
burning flame

If we are to put the spoon on the flame, it would char and become useless.
If we poured the soup onto the flame, it would put it out.
If we were to light the fire in the pot, the soup would have nowhere to cook.

Simple meaning in this proverb: to everything there is a proper place. When things are done properly, everything should be useful, and nothing, when it used properly, should come to a bad end.

Also, when things get done correctly, everything flows smoothly (rather than creating problems)

...when someone says, “I am the only person who does initiations correctly.” From a traditional Ifa perspective there is no such thing as the correct way to do an initiation. The question is: how we do an initiation effectively?
