Rainbow visualisation - grounding and calming

I was given this 8 years ago by Spirit back when I used to travel on rush-hour tube trains (subway) and it always seems to want to be shared, so I'm posting it here in case it's of any use to anyone: hope that's okay?

It's good for calming nerves, balancing emotions, dispelling stress and generally chilling out. You can sit or lie down, and do read it through once to get the idea as it works best if you can have your eyes closed, though that's not essential if you're skilled at visualising.

Close your eyes, and visualise an inky black starry sky, on a cool summer evening. Breathe in, deeply, the warm velvet blackness of the sky, feel it pour into your lungs and flow through your body right down to the soles of your feet, calming every jangling nerve and stressed frown line. Feel the soft dark potential of the night sky feeding your body with peace, and a feeling of endless possibilities.

Gently breathe out, feeling the soft blackness in every cell: pause, then breathe in visualizing bright white light flowing in through your nose into your lungs. As you breathe out slowly, imagine the inky sky that fills your body brightening through deep maroon, and glowing a bright, rich, gentle red, the red of a rainbow.

See the red light coming out of every inch of skin, every cell and pore bathed in its rosy light. See it pouring out from the soles of your feet, the back of your legs, and so on right up to a plume of red light spilling up like a searchlight from the top of your head.

Breathe in white light again, and this time, when breathing out see the red changing to orange - orange light spilling out, imagine you're a human-shaped orange lightbulb, feel that light coming from every inch of your body, even the palms of your hands. See it lighting your clothes from the inside, with a clear and gentle radiance.

Now, repeat this slow process of breathing in white light, and then breathing out whilst radiating in rainbow order yellow, then with each following breath: rich green, clear blue, indigo and then violet light.

Each time, work to have that light flowing out of every inch of skin, from the soles of your feet to the crown of your head, and all points in between (pay particular attention to hunched-up shoulders or any other tense areas). If you have a problem clearly seeing one particular colour, simply repeat it once or twice (don't force it) until you see it as clearly as possible.

Make the final inbreath of white light, then with the outbreath see the violet of the last colour change to a bright, warm, almost golden white, pouring out of your body all over, and filling you with power and confidence.

Open your eyes, roll your shoulders a little, and be ready to take on the world! :mrgreen:
