Analyzing Angel's Names with Gematria

Hi All. I don't really have a background in Gematria or Kabbalah, but I'm really interested in the deeper analysis of angel's names & scripture using this. Does anyone have tips or book recommendations for doing this? Has it deepened your understanding of the names and virtues contained within it, or has it just resulted in the haphazard number connecting that we often see with GD/Thelemite aspirants?
