Painting Watchtower Tablets

Greetings. I'm planning on painting my own Watchtower Tablets soon (have so far been using photocopies thumbtacked to the walls).
When looking up photos online of what others have done, I noticed that no one seems to use the version with the truncated pyramids. I'm curious as to why? Is it simply because those would be harder to paint than just the squares and Enochian letters, or is it not advisable?
Also, I'm curious if most people have painted their own tablets, or use something else?
