Daimon or Demon?

This question came up a long time ago but I always forget to ask. I'm not acquainted with any of the original Goetia material so I can't verify for myself. Some mages consider Goetics demons (and thus malignant) while others see them as spirits (possibly able to have a malignant disposition but not predisposed). My question then is does anyone know exactly what the more original material has to say on this topic which I think has some bearing in the manner in which we approach Goetics. Have a nice day.
