A question about the Master of the Head

I'm rather new at this. I was "introduced" to the Lwa that walks with me, but am very uncertain in a lot of things in regard to how to serve one's Master of the Head. One question that I've wanted to ask is this: Do you have to wait for "their day" (Monday for the ancestors, Guede and Legba, Tuesday for Petro, etc) to serve them and to try to communicate with them, or does the relationship between an individual and the Master of their Head take precedence?
