Working With Poppets (For Revenge Purposes)

I have read extensively through this forum on previous experiences using poppet magick. I read a lot of responses but most were a bit aged & I'm curious if anyone has any more knowledge to share that might be useful to me in my works.
I myself have been making a poppet against my enemy, someone who mistreated my baby when he was around a year old. I am still consecrating the doll leading up to the day I have planned for my main ritual.
I have been burning incense & meditating on this subject to devise my own ritual, so this is not spell begging. I am just curious what others have learned through trial & error with using poppets in works & maybe hear some interesting stories anyone wants to share. Thanks
