The satanic groups uses rituals with occult symbolic but do that makes satanists to occultists?
The occult traditions in the western world have their roots in the hermetic science (predating the abrahamic religions).
Since hermetism is not a religion but more ancient spiritual schools explaining the nature of the gods and man then it can be argued that satanists are not necessary occultists because they belongs more to a religion. Then the question can be that Satanism actually have it's root in hermetic science also, but no ones knows how old Satanism really is.
