I am coming at this with a thelemic perspective however I think this has magical importance regardless of your path, there is mention of this concept in the Tao de Ching and Levi also alludes to it in Transcendental Magic. I also think I came across the concept loosely in the Bhagavad Gita but don't remember the exact passage in those texts.
This meme popped up for me on FB and it made me think of that line from the book of the law concerning lust for result. “44. For pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is every way perfect.”
The minute we start constraining how something can manifest is the second we get lust for result. It’s something I have experienced many times. Anyway this made me laugh:
