Concerning Oaths and Obligations

So let's begin by addressing the elephant in the room: by this point in Time, there is no such thing as true "occult" secrets. People have broken oaths, published the rituals of almost every magickal order, and made them readily available for public knowledge.

While many occult institutions like the OTO enforce the taking of oaths of obligation to secrecy regarding their inner teachings, and while we cannot deny that once an oath is taken it should NOT be broken--since a magickal oath is not some minor mundane thing but has repercussions on the Higher Planes--I want however to ask the following thought-provoking question:

If one has not taken an oath to secrecy in an occult order, and happens to purchase or find their "secret teachings" somewhere, then why aren't more "not oath-bound" people freely discussing these teachings. Like honestly, what is stopping you in any way?

Just curious to see where this discussion will lead, and where it will bring us.
