Looking to hop into light based illusion/inspiration/guiding magic, where to start?

The idea is to bend light, create light, and to warp light to your will so that a persons visuals see things manifest such as a solar system or a glittering trail of light.
Of course it doesn't have to be pure essence, it could be refraction like a planar essence making it very lightweight to cast, and basically I... I want to hit people with butterflies.
I know it's possible, I've seen it, but I'm really new to magic. Do I need a covenant-relic or like a scroll?
Also since it's light, it shouldn't require sacrifice and I don't want anything accidentally hitting them in the face so no crushed up rocks or glitter. I dunno maybe like something that collects moonlight....
