Master, Apprentice

Perhaps learning magic on your own, just from books and trial and error, is not the best way to go about it.

I know alot of people struggle for years to achieve a basic minimum of consistent success in working magic and their spells actually being effective. Some never find a way to make their magic successful enough for them to continue with learning the Arts, and meet a "brick wall".

I've come to pondering on it, and thought that perhaps it is like in Martial Arts, where if you are not taught correctly by a Master, you end up with badly ineffectual techniques.

Another aspect of the Master-Apprentice relationship is fair trade, as of course nothing in this world comes free, so there is always the expectation of a trade. Knowledge at a price.

If given the chance to be apprentice to a Master of the Magical Arts, what would people on here expect or be willing to trade in return?
