Magick mentor/ daemon / spirit guide not coming

In the past I have done guided meditations to "get in touch with my spirit guide". Those didn't work.
I am looking and starting the nap ritual for the "Magick mentor", nothing, nada.
I know I've heard some entities before as clear as day. I think the idea of having an all knowing guide/daemon/higher self/ holy guardian Angel/ etc is invaluable. I will also state that my divination skills are not very good, my pendulum responses are inconsistent.
Who here has a spirit guide or got the Magick mentor to work? How did you do it?
