Angel Magic for Beginners?

My only angel experiences have been through qabala work and some folk magic work with the archangels. I would really like to take the next step in angel magic. I have a whole pile of grimoires and websites that I've been reading through, but I think I'm just making myself more confused. Where did you start your angel magic work? What was your experience level with magic and occult in general when you started working with angels?
