Re: Strophalos of Hecaté or Hekate's Wheel

What if Hekate really does have a wheel in the sky? What if it's a wheel based upon two circles, one based upon the planets and one based upon the zodiac's. It has two X's, one for her World Soul feature and one for Pluto's world soul feature which she shares and it holds three potential marks to de...

Re: Strophalos of Hecaté or Hekate's Wheel

I don't have a degree in History, but I try to follow the same line of thinking. If I can discern what the nexus around a point of contention was in history, I research both that primary source and those who appear to be influenced by that primary source. I recognize that i'll probably still walk a...

Re: Hekate & Her Mysteries

That sounds like a pretty visually stunning image, at that. Curious that she was ornamented by the jewels of the sea in this context, instead of by land jewelry. This image essentially seems to convey that she could be at one with the sea without any kind of apparent discomfort, almost as if to say...

Re: Ad cœlum, ad inferos. Lunar theology in the Chaldean Oracles and the Greek Magical Papyri

Another very good read. It also touches upon the idea of there being two Hekate's in the Chaldean Oracles. One a celestial and one a chthonic or what some call a high and low Hekate.

Re: Hekate & Her Mysteries

That is indeed interesting, monsnoleedra. The manner of dress I see her in changes regularly, though the most common robe form has definitely been a Chiton, typically of longer length unless I've seen her in the woods . When I've greeted her in the forest, its always shorter, stopping about halfway...

Re: Strophalos of Hecaté or Hekate's Wheel

Exactly. It gets edited and messed about with to some extent or another, often to the point of being marginally recognizeable at best. Add to this any kind of translation errors or spelling mistakes, and things get weird(er) in a hurry. Enough so, in fact, that when working with specific spirits wi...

Re: Strophalos of Hecaté or Hekate's Wheel

Let me preface all that follows is my own thoughts and UPG so no historical backing. I think one of the issues here is the image known as Hekate's Wheel has become a sacred image for modern followers of Hekate. That is not in dispute. The usage and association modern practitioners have assigned to t...

Re: Strophalos of Hecaté or Hekate's Wheel

To be honest, that's the whole problem with just about ANY reconstructed faith. What we have insofar as historical records are concerned is a mess, and whatever remains to this day has likely been "state sanctioned" to some point or another, since a great many records and truthful indicat...

Re: Hekate & Her Mysteries

Wanderer and Monsnoleedra, Your posts are really inspiring and great to follow. Glad to have you participating and glad your enjoying the exchange. I am brand spanking new to working with Hekate but a lot of what the two of you have said resonates with me and my limited experience with her so far. ...
